About Parabola Magic Designs

Most crochet and knitting resources give you one pattern at a time. Parabola Magic Designs takes a different approach: instead of another one-off pattern, we build reusable systems — formulas you learn once and use to make almost anything, in any size, in any style. Add in organized printables and clear, step-by-step tutorials, and you've got everything you need to craft with real confidence, whatever your skill level.

What We Offer

  • Formula-Based Systems: Learn one reusable method — like The Hat Formula — and make dozens of variations without hunting for a new pattern every time.
  • Knitting & Crochet Patterns: A collection of clear, tested patterns for when you want a specific project, start to finish.
  • Printables & Tutorials: Trackers, planners, and step-by-step video tutorials that keep your projects organized and your skills growing.

Our Values

  • Systems Over One-Offs: Every pattern is designed to teach a repeatable method, not just get you through a single project.
  • Accessibility: Clear instructions and stitch-count logic that work for total beginners and experienced crafters alike.
  • Purpose: Every hat design carries meaning — from comfort and warmth to the people you're making it for.
Lynn Ellis, founder of Parabola Magic Designs

Meet the Founder

Lynn Ellis, the creative force behind Parabola Magic Designs, first learned to knit from her father — and taught herself to crochet as an adult, drawn in by how quick, portable, and endlessly variable it is. Hats, especially, hooked her early: they use a small amount of yarn, come together fast, and can be made a hundred different ways.

Lynn spent years as a math teacher before turning that same love of patterns and problem-solving toward yarn. That background shows up in everything she designs — instead of writing one pattern at a time, she looks for the underlying formula: the one method that, once you understand it, unlocks endless variations. The Hat Formula is the clearest example yet of that approach — a system, not a stack of patterns, built to make crochet hats in any size or style without starting from scratch every time.

Through Parabola Magic Designs, Lynn is dedicated to helping others find the same thing she did: that once you understand the pattern behind the pattern, crafting gets a lot more fun — and a lot less intimidating.
